WHY UPGRADE YOUR A/C COMPRESSOR?
Until 1995, most cars with air conditioning used R-12 Freon refrigerant which has been shown to have an environmental impact. Therefore R-12 is no longer used or produced in many countries and the remaining quantities have skyrocketed in price. Since then, the industry standard has been R134a, which is an efficient replacement. Contrary to popular belief, most cars originally equipped with R-12 can be converted to 134a and still keep you just as cool.
R134a Conversion Kits are identical to the R12 Kit except supplied with a 134a compressor and proper hose fittings for system charging. 134a kits remove a higher heat load from the interior, so it is extremely important for the fan clutch and condenser to be in excellent condition on any 134a conversion.
